One of the biggest questions facing the New York Jets this offseason is the curious case of Sam Darnold.
General manager Joe Douglas made his stance clear during his pre-free agency presser that if calls came on his quarterback, he would take them.
On the latest ‘Play Like A Jet’ daily podcast, Nick Spano of uStadium provided a ton of interesting nuggets but none more so than which team has been the most aggressive in their pursuit of Darnold this offseason: San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers have been underwhelmed by the lack of production from their starting quarterback the last four seasons, Jimmy Garoppolo (46 touchdowns to 26 interceptions).
But beyond the stats, the tape doesn’t lie. Jimmy G just hasn’t made enough plays to win games. The fourth quarter of the Super Bowl is still very much on the forefront of every 49ers fan’s minds.
If the team decided to part ways this offseason either by releasing Garoppolo or trading him they could save around $49.2M over the next two seasons with minimal dead cap.
On the other side of the coin if/when the New York Jets move on from Sam Darnold, they’ll make their stance very clear. They will draft a brand new quarterback with the second overall pick or they’ll make a blockbuster trade with the Houston Texans for Deshaun Watson.
Should be an interesting next couple of weeks on 1 Jets Drive.
