Breaking News: New York Jets and Jamison Crowder agree to reNegotiated contract for 2021

Per Ian Rapoport, the Jets and WR Jamison Crowder have finalized a renegotiated contract to keep him on the team for 2021. The details of the restructure have not yet been revealed, but in the end Joe Douglas is able to work out a deal prior to the start of training camp to reduce drama and focus on other pressing matters.

With the restructure, the Jets now have extra financial flexibility to make some more moves. The Jets are still working with Marcus Maye’s agent on a contract extension; Maye was present at the team’s media day today per the team’s official twitter page. This is at the very least a good sign that he does not bear any significant ill-will towards the organization. The Jets are also interested in signing OT Morgan Moses, Crowder’s old teammate from his days playing for the Washington Football Team.

The Jets may still look to trade Crowder prior to the trade deadline, but as of now he will be on the roster for the 2021 season. Having a reliable offensive weapon for Zach Wilson is not a bad thing by any means, and Crowder can help the development of Wilson and rookie WR Elijah Moore. Crowder will hit the market next offseason at age 28, and Moore is expected to take his position as the team’s primary slot receiver in 2022.
