2022 New York Jets: Poor QB Play Sinks Gang Green

Losing to the Patriots after being dominated by them for a decade plus is infuriating and painful as a Jets fan. Additionally the way Bill Belichek has run up the score against this team multiple times, the performance on defense and this ones just hurts to the core. Finding a competent quarterback is central to the development of any NFL team and watching a promising talent crumble like Zach Wilson did on Sunday is gut-wrenching. His decision-making was nonexistent and he was the soul reason they loss that game. His performance in the four-game win streak prior to Sunday was average and just being one of the cogs in the machine is fine until you can drive the whole thing. Through is interview after the game it seems that Zach wants to quicken his growth and is not satisfied with being patient as he has to be. He has to understand that he doesn’t have to be the hero, just allow for the scheme and his fellow teammates to walk with him. These are youthful thoughts, trying to run when walking would suffice is youthful ignorance and will take a while before the individual understands. Being humble enough to accept his place until he is strong enough to fly can be on a game to game or play-to-play basis and understanding that part of the growth needed here. There is a small similarity with what Zach is going through and Elijah Moore’s situation. Both are exceedingly talented individuals that are incomplete pro football players, they don’t understand that team over everything should be the mantra and unless the do they will find themselves being the reason this team fails more often than not. There are valid questions about player usage in Moore’s situation and a rigidity in game planning that seem to be holding this team back offensively but non of those were the reason for the Jets the a Sunday. All is not lost here and at 5-3 they have plenty of chances to make simple noise in the AFC this season. Ultimately we will find out if we have the QB of the future on this team or should it be time to insert someone else because this team is growing quickly and need better from its field general.
